Overview
Playtesting and Rapid Prototyping
This class was the first foray into a very rapid form of playtesting and prototyping design process. Every week, we would have 2 playtest sessions for our game, as well as playtest other groups’ games. These sessions gave tremendous insight no only from feedback for our game, but also from observing clever and elegant implementation of game mechanics other groups have managed to accomplish.
Rapid prototyping is an essential skill for any game designer. This class was excellent practice for that, as there were many playtest sessions that were going terrible due to a complete imbalance of the game, forcing us to adapt and create or alter rules on the fly as we ran our sessions.
